Honey Recipe: Fruit Dip

Fruit Dip Recipe

This honey recipe is an all time favorite, the kids love it too!  This kid friendly recipe is sure to spark an interst in cooking and on your taste buds.  Best yet, it’s a simple recipe and fast to make!

Here is what you need:

  • Almond Butter (any kind of nut butter will work, you can even use good ole Jiff peanut butter),
  • Vegenaise (this is what we like, but you can use any may-o substitution you want, or use just regular ole Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip)
  • And a drizzle of Honey.

Simply take a scoop of your nut butter and an equal amount of Vegnaise and mix together.  Should blend together easily and will look like picture below.  Kids can do this step!

Add a drizzle of honey.  My children just LOVE to add the honey (to anything).  So I am always careful to keep a watchful eye for portion control on this step.  Then mix again.

Server with mixed fruit.  We had apples, bananas and green grapes.

WaLaa: A wonderful simple lunch.

[Don't judge, my kids love the peanut butter crackers!  ;-)]

The proof is in the eating!

Orange Beeswax Wood Finish

Here is a simple recipe for a nice wood finish to use on bare wood.

Orange Beeswax Wood Finish,
for bare wood.
1 Pound Swarm Natural’s Beeswax
1 Pint Turpentine (odorless, if you can find it)
1 Pint Boiled Linseed Oil
25-40 Drops of Orange Essential Oil
Melt wax. Remove wax from heat source, then stir in turpentine and oil. Before applying to bare wood, warm the mixture to achieve better penetration. Apply with a soft cloth, let dry, then buff with a wool cloth. Old coats can be removed with an organic solvent such as turpentine. This can also be used on leather.
Another wood finish can be made with 1 pound beeswax and 1 pint turpentine, omitting the linseed oil.
Want to use a natural beeswax finish, but don’t have the time to make it?  Try Howards Brand wood polishes.  We use them when we simply don’t have the time to mix up our own.

Happy Wood Working!
